Often hosted by local businesses or organizations, these free
evening events include casual networking with cocktails and
hors d'oeuvres, and they attract business professionals from
across Long Island.
Member
Business Exchange
LIA's membership receptions have come a long way. These new
and improved networking opportunities, taking place at new
times, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. or 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on alternating
months, are great avenues for information sharing. Participants
bring company literature and plenty of business cards.
Annual
Membership Meeting & Luncheon
This event has drawn nearly 1,600 guests. Past speakers have
included General H. Norman Schwarzkopf (US Army, Ret.), General
Colin Powell (USA, Ret.), Elizabeth Dole and Senator Bill
Bradley.
Annual
Awards Gala
Held each spring, this is one of Long Island's largest, most
prestigious events. The Gala, which generally attracts more
than 1,000 Long Island leaders, honors Long Islanders who
make a positive impact on the community. Past honorees and
award-winners include: Neil Armstrong, chairman of the board,
AIL Systems; Carol Baldwin, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer
Research Fund, Inc.; A.J. Richard, P.C. Richard & Son;
and, Dr. James Watson, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Committee Meetings
The LIA's numerous committees and councils are one of our
most effective vehicles for affecting public policy on Long
Island. Through committee involvement, members can directly
influence LIA programs and positions on local, state and federal
issues. Current active committees include: Building and Real
Estate, Education, Energy/Environment, Health, Insurance,
Not-for-Profit, Retail, Small Business, Tax Policy, Tourism,
Transportation, and World Trade. |
Business
Before Hours
If you're too busy to leave the office at five o'clock, join
other members for these networking events before work. Held
at LIA headquarters from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., these free events
offer LIA members the opportunity to exhibit their products
or services to hundreds of potential customers, exchange business
cards and generate invaluable contacts.
Executive
Breakfasts
These morning breakfast/networking meetings often feature
prominent business leaders and elected officials speaking
about timely and important issues that affect the Long Island
community. Past speakers include Senator Charles Schumer and
Congressman Rick Lazio. Executive breakfasts, generally held
five times a year at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury,
often attract more than 1,000 LIA members and guests.

After Hours
These unique networking opportunities for members have been
described as Long Island's largest mini-trade shows. Held
at various area hotels from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. weeknights,
these events offer business professionals across Long Island
the opportunity to expand their client base.
Training
Seminars
The LIA offers many practical business seminars to better
enable companies to gain the power necessary to succeed in
today's competitive market. Seminars topics range from comprehensive
skill development training to ways to increase business profitability
and sales techniques, and many more. |
